The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Zambia is looking for suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following vacancy:
Finance Assistant-Fixed-Term Appointment, GS-5 (General Service Category, Level 5), for 1 year (renewable) to be based in Lusaka.
The incumbent will work under the general supervision of the Finance Officer.
Duties
- Responsible for processing payments and generating payment requests for Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) action, scan documentation to the GSSC, track and monitor request status and take follow up action on the status of payments made.
- Maintains contacts with local banks for verifying account status, obtaining approval for cheque clearances, verifying currency exchange rates, and similar direct transactions.
- Responsible for entering all payroll related transactions in VISION.
- When authorized, makes disbursements from petty cash funds, maintains records of these disbursements and balances accounts, as required.
- Assists newly arriving or departing staff members with opening or closing bank accounts, exchanging currency, and other financial matters.
- Performs other duties, as required.
Qualification Requirements:
Completion of secondary education. Diploma/Degree in Business Administration or Accounting an asset. Proficient in the use of computer software packages such as Microsoft word, excel, power point and other related software. Minimum of five years general administration work which should have provided a good knowledge of administrative/accounting practices and procedures.
