SENIOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER (CEM)

Position: Senior Community Engagement Manager (CEM)
Location: Mfuwe Site
Project: USAID Community Forests Program (CFP)
Reporting To: REDD+ Technical Lead
Contract: 1 year, renewable
BCP is seeking a dynamic, talented, hard-working individual to serve as a Senior Community Engagement Manager for REDD+ activities at the Mfuwe Site. This is a field-based position based in Mfuwe town, with frequent travel to rural areas in Eastern Province in basic camping conditions. We are looking for someone who has managed complicated projects in rural settings, before. The individual in this role must have a passion for conservation and community engagement, and must be very comfortable with working in remote, rural, fieldbased locations, and undertaking logistical and operational management tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team management: Oversee, manage and coordinate Community Engagement Teams, including management of schedules, high-level planning and coordination.
  • Operational and logistical management: Coordination of CFP implementing partners, engagement activities, and site management including management of teams, vehicles and assets.
  • REDD+ project development, including coordination with GRZ and implementing partners to implement REDD+ activities.
  • Engagement with key CFP implementing partners and stakeholders; project representation.
  • Planning, Budgeting and Reporting for team and site activities related to REDD+ implementation.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years demonstrated professional management experience.
  • Relevant professional and/or academic background in community engagement, development, social work, environmental studies, natural resource management, or other relevant field.
  • Professional operations and logistics experience.
  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages (Eastern Province).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience living and working in rural areas; comfort with basic field-based accommodation and travel.
  • Experienced and comfortable working with Traditional Authorities and GRZ.
