With subsidiaries in more than 21 African countries, BIA’s operations are in the Sales and After-sales services of equipment for mines, quarries, public works, recycling, handling and power generation in West and Central Africa. BIA Zambia is currently looking for an HSE Officer for its operations to be based in Kalumbila.
RESPONSIBILTIES
Promote occupational health and safety within the organisation and develop safer and healthier ways of working
Make sure that the organisation is aware of, and complies with, all legislation in relation to the use of its plant, equipment and substances, as well as in all workplace activities
Stimulate continuous HSE risk identification, assessment and reduction in daily activities
Help supervise the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, study possible causes and recommend remedial action
Coordinate emergency procedures, mine rescues, fire fighting and first aid crews
Weekly HSE report to Headquarters, Site Managers & Project Manager, Country manager
Develop occupational health and safety strategies and systems, including policies, procedures and manuals
Monitor the level of training on HSE topics
EXPERIENCE
Hold a degree in Health, Environment and Safety, Science or Engineering
Minimum 3 years professional experience in mining, HSE or BTP sectors;
Experience on mining site, in the construction and/or mechanic sector (an experience in mining is an asset);
Good English Language Skills (Written or Oral), basic knowledge of French being an asset;
Experience in people management, direct or indirect (if applicable);
Holder of a valid driving license;
Knowledge of the standard OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001;
