Job Title: Project Officer – Land Rights
Reporting To: Programme Manager – Governance
Job Purpose: To Oversee the implementation of the EU funded Land Justice Project and ensure that the project is implemented as per project proposal and log frame.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Officer will develop realistic Project plans and work effectively to implement the project within the specific timelines, ensuring that project outcomes are delivered to the quality required by the programme and within set budgets. S/he will coordinate capacity building of CBOs and relevant stakeholders using VSO Programme Intervention models, and develop documentation to support specific volunteer placements identified with partners and pursue effective selection and placement arrangements. The responsibilities will also include conducting regular visits to partners and volunteers to develop first-hand knowledge of and give support to the working partnership, maintaining appropriate files and documentation of all programme development, and volunteer placement management, correspondence and activities.
The Essential requirements for this post are:
- Degree in Social Sciences, Development studies or professional qualifications related to aw or land management.
- Three years of Project management experience, preferably EU projects.
- Practical expertise in Land Rights or Livelihoods programming is of added advantage.
- Strong skills in M&E, including the development and use of appropriate monitoring and reporting tools and systems
- Excellent oral and written communication in English, with ability to vary communication content and style to suit audiences to inform, motivate and inspire.
- Successful experience in grants management
- Ability to work for long hours and to spend at least 30% of time in field locations.
- Clean, valid driving licence
- Knowledge of the Bemba language is of added advantage.
