PROJECT OFFICER – PRISONS HEALTH AND HIV/AIDS

Job Title: Project Officer – Prisons Health and HIV/AIDS
Reporting to the Health Program Manager, the Project Officer will lead and manage the implementation of the Zambia wing of the RHAISA Health and HIV Project in Prison settings, designed to run in six Southern African countries. This project will operate in the Lusaka and Luapula provinces, and the job holder may be required to live in Samfya or Mansa.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will establish and Manage project implementation, ensuring effective delivery and attainment of project outputs within set quality and budget s/he will work with the Implementing partner organization on a day to day basis to plan, prepare and manage products and undertake routine monitoring and evaluation. S/he will identify ensuring learning for innovations and replication, compiling periodic reports as required by VSO and the donor, and proposing way for improvement. The job holder will also facilitate professional development amongst volunteers and partner organizations and will conduct regular visits to stakeholders and volunteers to develop first-hand knowledge and support for the effective working of the partnership.
The Essential requirements for this post are:
  • Minimum requirement of a graduate degree in Public Health or Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications in a health or development related studies.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in projects design and implementation
  •  Experience in budgets development and management, grants management and expenditure reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to vary communication content and style to suit audiences to inform, motivate and inspire.
  • Applicants should have previously worked with an international development organization and preferably with experience of working with people from different cultures.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment, requiring regular travel in and sometimes out of the country.
  • Should poses a valid driving licence.
