Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is a local registered NGO engaged in development projects in the fields of education, health, agriculture and other poverty alleviation programmes. Projects are carried out in all the provinces of Zambia.
DAPP is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to take up the position of Head Driver.
Head Driver
Summary
- Developing work plans on the efficient utilisation of the project’s motor vehicle fleet; and overseeing implementation of the plans
- Preparing and submitting required reports
- Responsible for managing all project Drivers
- Safely driving personnel and goods to and from their destinations
- Performing role of messenger/courier when required
- Mapping out the most efficient routes when undertaking trips, and monitoring the same
- Ensuring that vehicles and motor bikes are in a roadworthy condition before being used, by ensuring that checks of oil, fuel, battery, brakes and clutch fluid and water level are done
- Conversant with the operations mechanism of motor vehicles, with ability to troubleshoot faults and undertake minor repairs
- Arranging for vehicle servicing and repairs as necessary
- Ensuring interior and exterior cleanliness of project vehicles
- Up to date with road traffic regulations, and ensuring that all drivers are also conversant with the regulations
- Ensuring that measures are in place to secure the vehicle fleet from loss, and, or damage
- Performing role of driving instructor when necessary
- Ensuring that every journey is appropriately recorded in vehicle log books, and maintaining an up to date data base of usage of each vehicle
Qualifications
- Grade 12 level of general education
- Possession of at least class C valid driving license
- Evidence of basic knowledge and experience in motor vehicle mechanics
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar role with medium or large organisation
- 3 credible and traceable referees
- Priority will be given to residents of the areas where the positions are based. Applicants are therefore required to indicate their areas of residence.
