IT Support Officer, ActionAid Zambia

Role Overview:
The IT Support Officer shall ensure the IT systems in AA Zambia are functioning smoothly and efficiently in compliance with ActionAid strategy/policy as well as AA International standards. He/she will also provide strategic direction to IT in AA Zambia.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in IT; (or equivalent qualification with relevant working experience)
- At least 2 years’ experience working as Microsoft Server/ Network administrator
- User support
- Microsoft Certification in server and e-mail administration is desirable
- Knowledge of hardware and is able to solve simple hardware problems;
- Knowledge of applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc. is essential;
- Knowledge of Window 2003/8 server, XP and Exchange 2007/10, VMware is essential.
- Knowledge of SQL 2005 and other relational databases is desirable
- Knowledge and experience of cisco systems routers/firewalls configuration is desirable
- Actual programming (computer programming with languages like C, C++, C£ or java) is desirable
- Able to align the IT policies and procedures to those of IT international
- Ensure AA Zambia derives maximum value for money from the IT investments
- Provide stable and effective IT solutions to the AA Zambia to meet demands of sponsors, Actionaid international secretariat as well as AAI partners in Zambia
- Remain informed of current IT technologies and standards and provide directions and advice based on knowledge and understanding of current technologies
- Ensure that the AAI non IT staff is provided with adequate and appropriate trainings based on the needs identified
- Perform IT reviews to ensure the systems are working as per standards and procedures
- Play a catalytic role in terms of use and piloting of IT and contribute to IT Regional and International initiatives.
- Engage with International IT team in all areas of global IT systems to ensure that systems are accessible and running smoothly
- Periodically update on telecommunication developments within the country to line managers and International IT team with a view of improving connectivity as well as reducing cost of connectivity.
- Procurement of IT equipment and maintaining documentation
- Involvement in IT projects
Competency Profile
- Skills in project management and budgeting is desirable
- Good interpersonal skill;
- Good Language skill in both English and Local languages;
- Be able to work independently as well as in a team;
