INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) ASSISTANT , Macha Research Trust (MRT)

The Macha Research Trust (MRT) is a health research organization based at Macha Mission Hospital in Choma, Southern Province. The institute conducts basic and applied research for strengthening interventions against malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS. MRT seeks to recruit one suitably qualified person who will serve as Information Technology (IT) Assistant

JOB TITLE: Information Technology (IT) Assistant
REPORTS TO: IT Technician
DETAILS OF THE JOB

The IT Assistant is responsible for providing assistance in all aspects of IT services, including, but not limited to:

1. Assist with maintaining an accurate and up-to-date MRT inventory of all computers, IT equipment, parts, IT consumables, software and software licenses.
2. Assist with maintenance and updating all institutional computers and to ensure that all software, including anti-virus, are running well at all times.
3. Assist with installation, monitoring and troubleshooting of both MRT wired and wireless networks, and provide technical assistance to maintain the network in good working condition.
4. Maintain and update institutional intranet and/or website as needed or requested.
5. Document internal procedures, keeping logs of maintenance activities and escalate unresolved problems.
6. Perform any other duties that may be assigned relating to IT provision and services for MRT.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE:

• Must show evidence as an honest, self-motivated person with a strong work ethic.
• Holder of a grade 12 certificate, including credit and above in English and Mathematics
• Holder of Post-Secondary Diploma or equivalent in Information Technology and/or website development or equivalent from a recognized institution.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• 8.00 AM to 1700 PM, 5 days per week, or as scheduled by supervisor up to 40 hrs per week
• Available to begin as early as 29 February, 2016
• This is a Permanent Position
