LOGISTICS & ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT


The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI has supported democratic institutions and practices in every region of the world for more than two decades. Since its founding in 1983, NDI and its local partners have worked to establish and strengthen political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI will work in Zambia to support election observation and  other activities for the 2016 elections.
NDI invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant post in Lusaka.
Logistics and Administrative Assistant
Job Purpose
The Logistics and Administrative Assistant will be an important member of NDI Zambia and will assist in the implementation of programs that support youth conflict mitigation  during the 2016 elections. In addition, this position will provide logistics and administrative support to other programs as assigned.
The Logistics and Administrative Assistant will report to the Program Manager:
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Relevant Certificate, Diploma or Degree
EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of office and travel logistics
  • Experience in an environment with demanding timelines
  • Experience working in a civil society organization (desired)
  • Strong computer skills required – Excel & Word, Google applications (desired)
  • Social media, communications skills (desired)
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare agendas for meetings
  • Provide backup during activity implementation
  • Make arrangements for meeting/workshop venues, travel and lodging requirements
  • Take notes/minutes and write activity reports
  • Maintain updated contact information  for civil society organizations
  • Assist with materials development, printing and distribution
  • Attend to assignments as directed by the Program Manager
